ArtFetch: One of the biggest Marketplace for Art work

ArtFetch has grown to be one of the biggest marketplaces in such a domain. This one of its kind application lets viewers pay the artists for their art work. As an artist, you can upload or create a live streaming session for your artwork and your followers can then access the art piece from your channel.

There are thousands of talented artists and individuals who have unique art but very limited exposure to the specific audiences. It is tougher for artists to pursue their talent as a career without having a fixed income or a fan following. ArtFetch empowers the true artists to explore their passion and simultaneously earn money at the comfort of your home.

ArtFetch also built an opportunity for the art lovers to discover new forms of art, talented artists and support the talent they like to follow. The viewers can silently contribute to the artists they appreciate. Every time a user subscribes to the artist or joins a live session they add some funds to the artist’s profile. These funds can then be transacted by the artists as per their convenience.

ArtFetch Artist

Features that make this platform a ROCKSTAR:

Artist:

The art forms are highly diversified with categories spanning over a wide range. Yet, there still remains a lot of uncategorized form of the artwork. Hence, making sure the right art form goes in the right category was the artwork of the developers. There are 2 show-stoppers feature here let’s see them in detail :

  1. Wide range of category to display art:
  2. Art is based on multiple formats and each format needs a unique platform which can cater to its need; If we have a singer, they would need a video, audio-based platform; In case of a sketch artist, he will need image and tool based platform; A street performer will need the ability to host the video so that he can interact with his audience as per convenience.

ArtFetch has the ability to handle all the mobile possible art form right from using motion sensors to as basic as selfie stick, ArtFetch has covered them all.

  3. Live Video streaming with chatting facility:
  4. The art thrives when there is an audience to appreciate it. Hence ArtFetch enables artists to showcase their work live to their audience and at the same time communicate via messaging facility in real time. The audience could write their comments and the artists have the ability to revert individually to each interaction.

ArtFetch Viewer

Viewers:

ArtFetch remains ad-free and delivers high-quality content because its users are art enthusiast. ArtFetch users contribute financially every time they view or support an artist. Depending on the type of the art viewers have different trial opportunities to test if they like the artist or the art form. Once they are sure they start to contribute to the income of the individual artist. Hence, making it a great incentive for Artists and Art enthusiasts. Viewers also use this opportunity to chat and offer different incentives to the artist, to which artists can respond personally.

Technical Masterpiece for the startup:

ARtFetch Wireframe

Segregating the talent:

One of the biggest challenges on the development end was to map the right category to the right talent. Each talent also needs a unique set of features to demonstrate their art. It was crucial as it determined how well are the customers able to perceive the art in its natural form. Since customers are paying the artist we needed to make sure that they have the best experience to keep them coming back for more.

Solution:

For the initial few months, we emphasized highly on the feedback cycle. Therefore, at each point viewers had a very easy access to the feedback section. To encourage viewers further, every time a visitor gave a suggestion ArtFetch gave some brownie points. These brownie points also made sure that viewers keep revisiting the application. It worked like a charm and in no time all the categories were perfect.

Artfetch Feature2

Retention Rate and Customer Acquisition:

Each country and location perceived different art forms differently. What might work in London may not necessarily work in Singapore. It is a trivial issue when we talk about user acquisition and retention rate. To understand this the best example is Youtube. Just retrospect and see on average how many videos do you see minimum before stepping out of the site. As per the research, as to this day, a minimum of 3 videos, not even an average but a hard number of 3. Crazy right and all thanks to just one feature “Relevant Suggestions”. It is a power that could make an average startup, highly successful one.

Solution:

Hence, A/B testing model was deployed and had a different suggestion for different people based on their demography or language. A fairly complicated logic to implement but a tremendously useful one when it comes to the overall success of the application. Revenues jumped the roof, it was a proud moment for all.

ArtFetch is one of the fastest growing and most appreciated platforms for its ease of use and beautiful UI. ArtFetch is able to grab a lot of investor attention because of such high user retention rate. Moreover, It is a true example of what a powerful UX can do to a brand when supported by strong technology on the backend.

ReportsBuyer- One of the biggest Report Aggregation Platform

ReportsBuyers

“Knowledge, like air, is vital to life. Like air, no one should be denied it.” Alan Moore

About

ReportsBuyer is US based company, focused on providing the users with well researched and detailed quality research reports. ReportsBuyer have one of the largest aggregators of the authentic researchers from multiple domains and for different market across the globe.

Imagine a life where there is no written track or documentation of learning and discoveries. Knowledge is the biggest tool, no matter what stage of life you are at, you would need to grow yourself and learn from other’s experience. Quantifying the importance of the Researches in any industry or field of work is simply impossible.

The problem:

Internet is a pretty big beast when it comes to finding the right information. It can even be considered as highly unorganized segment since the information is scattered over. For finding the relevant information a user generally spends a minimum of 3-4 hours on a single sitting before giving up. If we go deeper into the specific domain you can be looking at days before finding the right articles or data you are looking for.

The problem is that there are too many categories and no fixed standards of nomenclatures. Hence the user ends up tying multiple combinations of keywords which can be frustrating, exhausting and highly distracting.

ReportsBuyer organized the categories and made it highly easy to access with unique search algorithm and blatantly visible categories. All the keywords were absorbed and correlated to specific categories making it convenient for the end user. This enables the users to type as per their convenience and get redirected to the relevant domain.

Features:

ReportsBuyer does a lot of hard work in generating quality content. Moreover, they also appreciate individuals and institutes dedicated to sharing information. Researchers, publishers, and writers were the major focus for getting content on the portal. While Entrepreneurs, colleges and corporate were the consumer focus.

Feature to attract new users :

Ability for the researchers to share their statics on social media. For the researchers, this marketing will attract more followers to purchase their work while for the platform this will attract more writers on-board and create organic content.

  • Publishers:
  • A dedicated dashboard is provided to the Publishers where they could submit their work. To maintain consistency a fixed format is provided as a sample and the Publishers are urged to keep their work in the similar format. Publishers also have the ability to bulk upload the documents which are automatically recognized and stored by the system. Once stored, the data is extracted and presented for the world to download for the appropriate cost.

Nonetheless the most important feature needs to be the highlights.

    • Uploading the work by simply uploading the document of excel, word and pdf format,
    • Analysing how many people viewed their work,
    • Article wise earning,
    • Comparing their work with others,
    • Analytics on users background and interests.
  • Consumers:
  • Candidates want to discover the right content in a affordable pricing.

    • Easy filters,
    • Unique Key word linking
    • Finding relevant work with minimum clicks,
    • Buying the reports,
    • Purchase once access forever,

Hidden Challenges

No Real hidden challenges in terms of the technology here, it is a simple 3 tier marketplace, with Admin, Researcher and the user. Nonetheless, since the users are dealing with a huge chunk of data and a vast number of categories, it is extremely important to focus on the user journey and user experience (UX). We are not even talking about the UI yet. The User Journey is the way a new user reached the end destination and the user experience defines how easily or quickly is he able to find what he is looking for.

Recruitment Portal with Online Tests

About

This project was done for a traditional multinational Human Resource consultancy firm. You can think of it as Monster.com with Custom test facility to evaluate candidates. The companies can create their own team while also filtering the resources based on their scores for portal’s global tests.

The idea was great. Every company wants to evaluate their candidates based on multiple parameters which may differ company to company. Hence the firm decided to empower each company to test their candidates online with custom questions/tasks or filter candidates based on the score of the portal’s global test.

Platforms on which the portal is available:

  1. Android Application
  2. iOS Application
  3. Web portal

Features

Recruiter:

They will have majorly have 15 different options to work over and huge data to analyze. Nonetheless, the most important feature needs to be the highlights.

  • Finding the relevant person,
  • Filter people based on different exam/task categories relevant to the JD,
  • Sharing the information with co-workers,
  • Followup with candidates,
  • Creating the custom test/quiz for the interview,
  • Categorizing the tests,
  • Posting events
  • Analytics on candidates, and numerous other traits (Confidential)
  • Posting new requirement
Candidate:

Candidates want to be discovered and acknowledged for their achievement, talent and creditbility.

  • Take relevant online tests and create a good profile,
  • Update the kind of job preference,
  • Apply for openings,
  • Revert to HRs for hiring request,
  • Resume builder,
  • View company and recruiter profiles,
  • Chating/Conferencing option
  • Profile Linking

Understanding the problem:

The platform wants to help companies discover the relevant talent set pool with the assured quality resource in a matter of minutes. While making the process fun and interactive.

The current problems are:

  • Candidates write false information on resume,
  • Bolster their achievements,
  • Get fake experience certificates,
  • Huge time is wasted in filtering,
  • Incorrect availability of the resources

Hidden Challenge faced while development:

Too many clickable options:

The main thing was the huge number of actionable available for the recruiter; this would create confusion and make the portal look clumsy. People should easily understand their options and navigate with hassle.

Stopping the candidate from cheating while giving the test

The candidates were supposed to give tests online which would be considered as their first filtration criteria. Since the tests can be given from any place it was important to assure that the candidate doesn’t try to cheat.

Communication Gap

As a founder you are always thinking to improvise on your idea. However, the development of such apps with multiple functionalities generally take some time and in the meantime, it often happens that the minor details are forgotten, maybe unintentionally, or may not have been thought through. If you haven’t documented the requirement properly, it often results in an altercation and nobody is to blame.

Nonetheless, it can be easily overcome by writing in a detailed document of all possible minor functional points that you can think of, even if in a layman language, it will come in very handy later stages of the development.

Sales Feature

The test based hiring portal was a need of the hour and being backed by such a magnificent company, it was sure to catch a lot of eyes. This excitement could be used in a very productive way. The main power of the platform was in the analytics features, it sure took time to be developed but now was the time to bear fruits. The client gets a free subscription to try the portal or extension in the current plan based on below criteria:

  • Sharing a public post about the job opening on social media platforms.
  • Free Coupons with nearest food vendors for successful closing.
  • If they can refer a friend and the friend post’s a job, then both parties get benefited.
  • The candidates get a free resume custom built.

With such platform the word spreads real quick and getting students on board is not a challenge. However, for any person looking to start a similar portal, you should really focus on bringing the companies on-board.

Mentrio: Where students find their college mentors !!

Mentrio

Headquartered in Canada, Mentrio is a web portal to connect students with the alumni of the leading universities from US and Canada (the aim is to have alumni from around the globe).

With so many universities around the globe offering multiple courses, it is tough to keep a track of the latest trend. There is no source of being 100% sure of the ground reality in different countries and the demand of a course.

According to the studentedge.org survey of 2017 the one thing students’ need the most is MENTORSHIP and GUIDANCE.

Platforms on which the app is available:

  1. Website

We will cover the below aspects of the project:

The aim here is to help you make more informed decisions in terms of features and find the right IT parents, hence saving you from paying extra or getting duped by fake companies. By Sales consultancy we want to educate you with tested strategies to acquire your initial clients.

  • IT Review:
    1. Pre-Requisites
    2. Understanding the problem from the user’s perspective
    3. Hidden Challenges
    4. Behaviour of the target audience
    5. Adding feature for acquiring client after launch: Our USP
  • Project Management

    1. Documents Required
    2. Graphic Designing
    3. Selecting the Development Team

  • Sales Consultancy
    1. Deciding the target audience
    2. Selecting the country
    3. Best places to find target audience
    4. Getting Users on Board

Mentrio Features

IT Review:

The value is pretty straight forward, students often face the challenges while planning for my higher education. They need some sources of “Awareness and Ground Reality” , and Mentrio bring it with a personal touch.

The challenge is that on one side we have fickle minded students, and on other we have senior position holder professionals of estimated universities.

  • Pre-Requisites
  • Before you reach out to any development team you should have the below things ready with you. This will help the IT partner to understand you perspective better and avoid any possibility of confusion

Don’t worry your IT partner will correct you and give appropriate solution when required.

    1. Document, mentioning all your requirement/thoughts. Simple layman language would do.
    2. Reference website with similar feature, if any.
    3. Reference website for your designs preference.

  • Understanding the problem users face:
  • Our target was to make it attractive, fast and give more information with minimal design, hence ensuring the credibility of the platform to the target audiences.

    Mentor:
    1. They have limited time,
    2. No visibility to students who need help,
    3. Managing payment flow,
    4. Mode of communication,
    5. Demanding money for their time (consciously awkward),
    Student:
    1. Want to know the ground reality of the college,
    2. Unable to find which alumni is ready to help ,
    3. Need secure way to pay the demanded money,
    4. Nowhere to compare the standards of the alumni,
    5. Finding relevant mentor is very time consuming,
    6. Mode of communication,

  • Hidden Challenges in development
    1. Booking Timeslot Management:
    2. The main challenge to the complete project is the booking system. If a student is sitting in China and trying to see the timeslots of an alumni in USA, then the timeslot entered by the alumni needs to be adjusted to the timeslot of the student.

It is tougher than it sounds because the timezone for a few countries keep changing every few months, its called the Day-Light Effect. If the IT Company doing it is aware of such effect they can easyly manage it, otherwise it could be a huge pain.

    3. Video calling through Mobile Browser:
    4. The other challenge is to have the video calling feature run through the browser, even if used from a mobile browser.

  • Behaviour of Target Audiences:
  • Targeting relevant students is super fun. You can find that in the Sales section below.

    1. Mentors:
      • Major Country of International Student:
        USA, UK, and Australia
      • Most used apps/ websites for references of comfortable feature:
        • UK: Tripadvisor (Booking), Amazon (listing) ,Reddit (Information)
        • USA: Facebook, Google, FB Messenger
        • Australia: Ebay, LinkedIn, Reddit
    2. Students:
      • Major Places where International Students come from:
China, India, Saudi Arabia and South Korea
      • How is the information acquired
Through local coachings, Websites, Forum and asking random people on social media.
      • Most used apps/websites for reference of comfortable feature:
        • China: WeChat (business), Mobile Baidu (Searching) ,QQ (Chatting)
        • India: Facebook, Google, Whatsapp
        • South Korea: KakaoTalk, Korail, Itour Seoul
      • Language convenience:
        Most are comfortable with English.

  • Final Features:
  • Feature to Acquire users: OUR USP

Mentrio uses a feature called Mentrio Fund where on each booking Mentrio donates some fund to the charity which supports the under-privileged kids with studies.

    Features:

    Mentor:

    1. Mentor login through LinkedIn to capture professional information
    2. Adding per hour cost
    3. Adding available timeslots with timezone
    4. Notification of events

    Student

    1. Search and filter mentors based on categories
    2. Booking timeslots with online payment

Project Management:

As a policy, I only act as the Project Manager for my clients. I do not build the projects or have in-house developers. This enables me to find the best company at the right cost for my clients without any alternate intentions.

As a Project Manager we handle the Designing, Development, follow-ups, timely delivery, feedbacks and all the project related management. While for clients it is only us who are answerable. Single point of contact.

I have a network of tried and tested 50+ companies/developers across the globe for different budgets and requirements.

  1. Documenting the requirement :
  2. These are the minimum documents that I take from my vendors to check if they have truly understood the requirement ensuring smooth delivery.

Lot of time, in the haste of closing the deal or in the laziness to do extra effort, vendors don’t give their clients these document which results in confusion and problems at the time of delivery.

    • Change Request Document
    • Flow Diagram
    • Here is an example of the Flow Diagram of similar website.

  3. Graphic designer:
    • Wire-framing:
    • Rough sketch of where will the different element be placed on the screens of the application.

    • Prototype:
    • In-Vision tool helps to create a good prototype. Before starting a development you should have the exact experience on how would your application feel like once it is created.

In-Vision has commenting facility which helps the client to easily communicate their thoughts on the minor details of the design with precision to the designer.

  4. Selecting the Development Team:
  5. The way I do it is, I intentionally give half information and create loopholes to check how good the development company is to whom I am planning to outsource the project. Company’s ability to think of innovative ways and how quickly they can catch the loopholes , is a test of their talent.

    Criteria:

    1. IMPORTANT: Worked on multiple-timezone based bookings,
    2. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Have worked on running video calling through mobile browsers.
    3. Ability to spot the intentionally placed loopholes,
    4. Company which satisfies the technology stack,
    5. Handled Payment gateway,
    6. Worked on Marketplace model,

Sales Consultancy :

We help start-ups to acquire initial users / client. It was one of the occasions when I agreed to be involved more than just being a strategist to acquire clients. After 15 days of research, we formed realistic goals for next 3 months. Putting a number on the strategy helps in being target oriented and more focused.

My role was Student Acquisition. That basically means lot of meetings.

Tooreest Milestone

  • Understanding the project:
  • The concept is the student from anywhere across the globe should be able to come to the portal and find a relevant person based on different filters. Once the student finalizes the mentor he should be able to book a 1-to-1 video call with the person as per a mutually convenient time.

The mentor should be able to showcase his availability on the portal without too much hassle and decided how much he would like to be paid for the services.

    1. Deciding the target audience
    2. Unlike the others projects, the target audience for this project was very specific.

In students, we are looking specifically for the ones planning to travel abroad for studies. In alumnus, we are looking to on-board the candidates who would prefer to guide students against some fixed charges.

    3. Selecting the Country:
    4. Since Mentrio cater to international audiences it is important to start with one country make it profitable and then move to the next.

India ranks second in terms of number of students who opt for international education and my local presence just add to making it the best choice without opposition. India is also an ever growing community of young students travelling abroad to study.

As for Alumnus, I choose USA since that is where most of the Indian students choose to go for studies.

    5. Getting students on-board:
    6. We took the driving seat while there were 200+ alumnus on-board.

While brainstorming we came up with 16 different strategies using multiple portals.

In 1 months we had 50+ bookings on the portal.

      1. Approach Colleges seminars/workshops,
      2. Approach Institutes
      3. Cafe Events
      4. Flyers in colleges
      5. College Fest
      6. GMAT/GRE/IETLS Coaching
      7. Local Eateraies
      8. Malls and Movies
      9. Ads in Cafes
      10. Lounges
      11. Assigning College Ambasidors
      12. Pic Contests
      13. Earn on refers
      14. Ads on RJ’s personal Pages.
      15. College Contest

    7. Brought back to reality
    8. With all the past success in the online platform, we were sure to rock even the offline market as we knew our target audience very well.

Our very first strategy was to collaborate with the abroad education consultancies. We were sure that they would jump to shake hands as it had a great value proposition.

However, we failed miserably because, very innocently, we missed to realize that the biggest proposition involved sharing their client (student) data, which obviously none of would agree to.

Nonetheless, we are entrepreneurs and learn quickly from our experiences, we spotted the problem with our strategy and switched to targeting students.

We got really close to the deadline, in first 16 days, we had 0 targeted leads. Working aggressively we achieved our target on the 24th days with commitments for next 3 months with target exceeding 500%.

    9. Did something completely different
    10. We knew that it is not something we do very frequently, hence we choose to start with relatively easer audience to convert.

      Strategies:

      • Collaboration with local Education Consultancies
      • Hired college students with attractive return
      • Collaborated with students as a status symbol

In the 1st month we had 50+ student making the call and the total target of 2000+ bookings in the next 3 months which we are sure to achieve in the next 2 months itself.

The beauty of doing timely delivery is informing the relation with your clients.
